My First Portfolio
I graduated without a background in advertising. After jumping through hoops to secure an internship, I realised I needed a book of dummy ads before I could get a proper job. Happily, I bought an imitation Wacom and drew up these ads, semi-clueless about what I was doing.
There is is no Grand Prix idea bursting to get out here. But looking back now, I like the playful, creative energy in these pieces - the kind that comes with being naive and unencumbered by knowledge.
Thankfully, so did the person who hired me.
TEAK & MAHOGANY FURNITURE SHOP
I created ads featuring the most wooden actors at the time.
HOOVER VACUUM CLEANERS
I compared a vacuum cleaner to a tabloid that gets all the dirt.
SUPERMARKET DISCOUNT COUPONS
Here, I played with the “cut it out” instructions usually found on coupons, and turned it into a conversation between two people.
